OLDr turns 2!! WOOT!!
by Fezza - 27/12/09
HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLDr and ALL our members!!

Well here we are 2 years after that fateful day when OLDr was hatched from a chance happening and a group of online mates just "getting together" to see if we could make a forum work Now look what we have We Admins/Founders (or Bumbling fools, or whatever you like to think of us as ) really luv this place and all the people who visit & contribute in different ways & form the backbone of this place you've all helped to create the flavour of.

First up how about a round of applause for TJet for the fantastic 2nd Birthday banner he put together for us!! Thanx heaps Jet!! "

We'd like to thank all of you for being part of OLDr and maintaining the inspiration for us to keep OLDr going and to work on improving the place for all of us. For example, there's been a WHOLE lot of work going on to get our new VB4 forums up and ready to be implemented. Get ready for a fantastic, cleaner and more user friendly forum folks!

Thanks to all who contribute either time and/or money to maintain our Game servers too!! Having forums and servers gives us both a place to socialise and some places to play and have fun

BIG thanks to CFodder and Jello who are really the technical brains behind these forums (I'm still the Noob Admin) and to people like Hossy & Whack and others who contribute thier skills also. Thanks in fact to all of you just for being here, and for being the... [Read More]
MW2 Review
by Morf - 26/12/09
Alright, so now that i've clocked 36 multiplayer hours on the game, i feel i can give it a review of my own. Warning - wall of text approaches...

The single player game is entertaining, but short. Like in previous COD games there are three distinct types of missions.
  1. You're a part of a larger force, split up into your squad and assault/defend whatever.
  2. Sniper style, alone or with one other, infiltrate behind enemy lines.
  3. Novelty, ac130 gunner, chopper gunner, snow mobile crap.
In previous games, the 1st style of mission was the most prevalent, in COD:MW2 the balance of gameplay is more towards the 2nd type and there are a few sneaky, stealthy sniper infiltrations. As a single player game, it's definately entertaining, maybe worth around $20 because it's all over in a few hours.

The multiplayer is obviously where the game comes under a lot more scrutiny.

Perks, guns, ranks - heavily expanded on from COD:WaW and COD4, the range of perks and gun upgrades is pretty massive.

Some of the highlight perks are:
  • Aikimbo - allows you to wield a shotgun, handgun or sub-machinegun in each hand but you cant aim down the sights. (I like to keep these handy for close encounters ).
  • Lightweight - run faster.
  • Bling - allows you to put 2 weapon mods on your primary weapon, so you can have an assault rifle with a silencer and a red dot sight for example.
Killstreak rewards are now customizable are there are around a dozen to unlock from which you get to choose 3 at a time. These range from the standard UAV, a sentry gun, a few different types of choppers, a few different types of airstrikes, being the gunner in an AC130 or chopper and the tactical nuke which wins you the game for a killstreak of 25. The chopper arent as... [Read More]

by OLDr Admin Team - 21/12/09
To everyone in OLDr, we hope you have a very merry christmas & new years, and may you and yours be safe over the holidays. Enjoy the break but don't abuse those livers too much .

It's been a great year for OLDr and one of a few firsts:
  • Our first tipping competition for the NRL and AFL, both won by that bloody Ambush.
  • The fantastic shirts, caps and beanies organised by Whack.
  • The free product donated to us by Belkin (after being harassed by Hicks) for our raffle.
And in the new year there's more to look forward too, including a new site based around VBulletin 4 and another competition with free... [Read More]
